Albuquerque Officer Involved in Massive DWI Scam Resigns Before Facing Internal Affairs

A new development in the DWI scandal plaguing the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) has emerged. One of the officers suspected of being involved in a plot to extort residents has resigned as federal authorities continue investigating the matter.

The scandal exposed a tangled web of alleged corruption within the APD’s DWI unit as the community looks for accountability for those involved. Officer Honorio Alba Jr., one of those under investigation, decided to resign from his position prior to an interview with internal affairs.

Albuquerque police officer Honorio Alba Jr. has resigned ahead of his scheduled Internal Affairs interview, according to APD Chief Harold Medina. Alba was going to be interviewed by APD Internal Affairs either Thursday or Friday. Alba was one of the officers who had been placed on administrative leave amid a federal investigation into APD’s DWI unit.

The scam involved various police officers, a local attorney, and the residents who were extorted for their hard-earned money. The scandal made it to the FBI’s radar after Watson became one of the officers’ targets.

In the wake of these allegations, about 200 DWI cases were dropped because the APD was no longer able to rely on the testimony of the officers who made the arrests.

Russian Navy Loses Another Missile Ship to Ukrainian Drones

Ukrainian Navy drones attacked and sank a Russian patrol ship in the Kerch Strait overnight Tuesday. The lost ship was the 1,300-ton Project 22160 ship Sergei Kotov. Ukrainian Magura V5 unmanned surface vehicles struck it at least three times. There is no official Russian admission of casualties; the Ukrainians claim the butcher's bill is seven dead and 27 wounded.

In the process, the Russian blockade of Ukraine's Black Sea ports has been lifted, and its grain trade has been restored without Russian consent. There was collateral damage.

Aside from the tactical success, a more extensive operation may be in the making. Sergei Kotov was guarding the Kerch Strait Bridge. This bridge is critical to the resupply of Russian forces in Occupied Crimea, Occupied Kherson, and Occupied Zaporizhzhia.

Without the rail line, all supplies have to come by ship or aircraft. If there is another coordinated attack on Russian patrol craft guarding the bridge in the next week or so, it will be an indicator that Ukraine is trying to push the Russian Navy away from the bridge to clear the way for a direct operation against it.from the halls of Congress.
