A 47-year-old Colorado woman has been charged after her elderly mother with dementia was alleged to have been mauled by dogs that authorities say were living in "unsanitary conditions."
Jessica Hoff was charged with criminal negligence resulting in death along with 54 counts of aggravated animal cruelty, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office said. Hoff's arrest Friday stemmed from a call the sheriff's office received on Feb. 3 for a report of an unconscious woman.

Former University of Michigan assistant football coach Matt Weiss pleaded not guilty to federal charges Monday as two women filed a class-action lawsuit alleging they were victims of a scheme to access private student accounts.
Weiss was charged in a 24-count indictment last week after federal prosecutors accused him of accessing the digital accounts of 3,300 student-athletes to download their intimate photos and videos. He pleaded not guilty on all charges and was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond, court records show.
