American Fact of the Day!

Most of Louisiana used to be underwater: While some parts of Louisiana’s land have been around for millions of years, that’s not the case for other regions. Much of Louisiana’s land was originally sand and earth that was swept down the Mississippi River over the course of thousands of years, which eventually built up to such extremes at the mouth of the Mississippi. This sand and earth accumulated over time, extending the landmass of Louisiana over time.

NYC's Dramatic Debut of Side-Loading Garbage Trucks Does Not Get the Intended Reactions

In New York City on Thursday our purported intellectual betters debuted such a truck surrounded by much hoopla, with music playing, cameras rolling, photographers snapping pictures, and politicos smiling and posing for photo ops while holding bags of trash.

The trucks, which are still undergoing testing, will be able to hoist on-street containers the city will eventually require high-density buildings to use to store trash, Mayor Eric Adams said at a news conference in Manhattan’s Hudson Square Thursday. Reporters got a demonstration of one truck’s bin-hoisting abilities just before the mayor’s announcement.

“The truck you see next to me,” Adams said, pointing to the vehicle, “represents the future of New York City garbage collection.” The new trucks will be able to collect trash “substantially faster” than manual pickup allows, City Hall said in a news release.

In other words, it's... very similar to trucks that have been in American cities--small and large alike--going back decades collecting trash on the designated day of the week. Amazingly (but not surprisingly), city officials consulted with so-called experts in Europe regarding the particulars of how to manufacture such a truck.

Dr. Phil Visits the Border and Rips Apart the Failure of Biden, Harris

Dr. Phil announced a few days ago that he would be going to the border to see for himself, after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared it to be an invasion.

On Friday, Dr. Phil went to Eagle Pass, and got a tour of the area by the Texas DPS in a helicopter. Then he did a spot by the border fence, in which he ripped into Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for their failure to secure the border.

Dr. Phil described Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's position. He spoke about how Abbott said that the federal government had broken the pact it had with the states to protect them. Abbott said that not only had Biden refused to enforce the laws, but he'd broken them. He said the result was a humanitarian crisis the likes of which had not been seen before, that wasted taxpayer dollars and "tore open Texas border security infrastructure." McGraw cited DHS saying more than 6 million illegal aliens had come in since Biden occupied the office. Indeed, that number is far higher.

So now, Dr. Phil has spent more time there than Kamala Harris, who never made it to the physical border during her one hit-and-run visit on her way to California.

But if even Dr. Phil is saying it, you know how bad it has to be. That's not going to reverberate well for Biden and Harris in the election.
